Klipsch DS-250W-LCR In-Wall LCR Speaker (Each) at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The DS-250W-LCR is a 2-way in-wall LCR speaker from Klipsch (Indianapolis, Indiana, USA), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Part of Klipsch's Designer Series, it brings Klipsch's signature Tractrix horn-loaded technology to an accessible price point in a purpose-built left, center, and right channel format. Dual 5.25" Polypropylene Woofers paired with a 1" Silk Dome Tweeter mated to a round 90° x 90° Tractrix Horn deliver a measured frequency response of 73Hz to 23kHz (+/-3dB) at 92dB sensitivity and 8 ohms, with 60W RMS and 240W peak power handling across a wide 100° coverage angle. The patented Skyhook Tool-Free Installation System automatically engages the dog legs when the speaker module is inserted into the cutout hole, reducing installation time by up to 75% compared to conventional screw-tightened dog legs. A bezel-free flat magnetic paintable grille is included, and the speaker accepts up to 12 AWG speaker wire.

Klipsch Tractrix Horn Performance at a Designer Series Value

The DS-250W-LCR is positioned as Klipsch's accessible entry into the Designer Series architectural lineup, using the same Tractrix horn technology and design principles as Klipsch's premium architectural and box speaker lines but with polypropylene woofer cones and a silk dome tweeter rather than the graphite, Cerametallic, or titanium drivers found in the Professional Series Reference and Reference Premiere tiers. The dual 5.25" polypropylene woofers share acoustic output across a combined cone area that provides more low-end presence than a single 5.25" driver of the same size, reaching a measured 73Hz lower extension across the LCR cabinet's 16.5" x 6.5" cutout footprint. The 1" silk dome tweeter couples into a round 90° x 90° Tractrix horn, which maintains horn-loading efficiency and controlled high-frequency directivity consistent with the Klipsch signature sound. The wide 100° coverage angle ensures consistent tonal balance across a broad listening area, making the DS-250W-LCR well suited to multi-seat home theater applications and large open-plan distributed audio spaces where off-center listening positions must receive consistent frequency response. The ABS infinite baffle enclosure uses the wall cavity as the acoustic working environment at 3.78" mounting depth.

Skyhook Tool-Free Installation System

The DS-250W-LCR uses Klipsch's patented Skyhook Tool-Free Installation System, which automates the dog leg clamping process entirely. When the speaker module is inserted into the 16.5" x 6.5" drywall cutout, the dog legs engage automatically with a factory-preset clamping force without any screwdriver, drill, or hand-tightening required. This eliminates both the overtorquing risk that can crack drywall or break dog legs in conventional installations and the time required to tighten each dog leg individually with a tool. Klipsch states the Skyhook system reduces installation time by up to 75% compared to conventional dog-leg mounting, a meaningful efficiency advantage in multi-room distributed audio projects where many speakers must be installed in a single session. The flat bezel-free magnetic grille attaches to the installed speaker face without visible clips or hardware and accepts standard interior wall paint to match any wall color.

Key Features

  • Dual 5.25" Polypropylene Woofers: Two polypropylene cone drivers share acoustic output for a combined bass presence that reaches a measured 73Hz, suitable for music and cinema use with a dedicated subwoofer handling the bass frequencies below that point.
  • 1" Silk Dome Tweeter with Round 90° x 90° Tractrix Horn: Klipsch's Tractrix horn geometry focuses high-frequency energy into a controlled 90° x 90° dispersion pattern using horn-loading for higher efficiency and lower distortion than a bare dome tweeter, delivering the Klipsch signature sound character at the Designer Series value tier.
  • 100° Wide Coverage Angle: The broad 100° coverage pattern ensures consistent tonal balance across a wider listening area than narrower-dispersion speakers, making the DS-250W-LCR effective for multi-seat home theater rows and open-plan distributed audio zones where listening positions are spread across a wide angle relative to the speaker.
  • 92dB Sensitivity at 8 Ohms: High efficiency allows substantial output from modest amplifier power, making the DS-250W-LCR compatible with a wide range of AV receivers, multi-zone distribution amplifiers, and whole-home audio systems without requiring high-powered amplification.
  • Skyhook Patented Tool-Free Installation System: Dog legs engage automatically with factory-preset clamping force when the speaker module is inserted into the drywall cutout, with no tools required. Installation time is reduced by up to 75% versus conventional screw-tightened dog leg mounting.
  • Infinite Baffle ABS Enclosure: The wall cavity provides the acoustic working environment at 3.78" mounting depth across a 16.5" x 6.5" cutout, fitting the same standard stud bay footprint as Klipsch's Professional Series dual-5.25" in-wall LCR speakers.
  • Bezel-Free Flat Magnetic Paintable Grille: The included magnetic grille eliminates the visible frame for seamless wall integration, accepts standard interior wall paint for wall-color matching, and attaches and detaches without tools or visible hardware.
  • 12 AWG Wire Compatible: The speaker accepts up to 12 AWG speaker wire through the binding posts, supporting long cable runs common in whole-home distributed audio installations without excessive signal loss.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Klipsch DS-250W-LCR?

The Klipsch DS-250W-LCR is a 2-way in-wall LCR speaker from Klipsch's Designer Series, featuring dual 5.25" polypropylene woofers and a 1" silk dome tweeter mated to a round 90° x 90° Tractrix horn. It delivers a frequency response of 73Hz to 23kHz at 92dB sensitivity and 8 ohms, handling 60W RMS and 240W peak across a wide 100° coverage angle. The patented Skyhook tool-free installation system, which reduces installation time by up to 75%, and a bezel-free flat magnetic paintable grille are included in the box.

How does the Klipsch DS-250W-LCR compare to the PRO-25RW LCR and the PRO-250RPC?

The Klipsch DS-250W-LCR, PRO-25RW LCR, and PRO-250RPC all share the same 16.5" x 6.5" cutout footprint and use dual-5.25"-driver configurations, but they belong to progressively higher acoustic tiers within the Klipsch lineup. The DS-250W-LCR from the Designer Series uses polypropylene woofers and a silk dome tweeter with a round Tractrix horn at 92dB sensitivity and 73Hz lower extension, targeting strong value performance. The PRO-25RW LCR from the Professional Series Reference tier uses IMG woofers and a pivot aluminum dome tweeter with Controlled Dispersion Technology at 93dB and 56Hz. The PRO-250RPC from the Professional Series Reference Premiere tier uses Cerametallic woofers and a titanium dome tweeter with Hybrid Cross Section Tractrix horn at 94dB and 46Hz. Moving up the tiers provides deeper bass extension, higher driver material quality, and additional installation aiming flexibility, at progressively higher investment levels.

Does the Klipsch DS-250W-LCR need a subwoofer?

In home theater applications, pairing the DS-250W-LCR with a dedicated subwoofer is recommended. The 73Hz lower extension means the speaker does not reproduce the lowest bass frequencies, and an AV receiver's bass management should be configured to redirect content below 73Hz to the subwoofer output for proper LFE reproduction and to protect the dual 5.25" drivers from sustained high-power bass drive. In secondary whole-home audio zones used primarily for background music playback at moderate listening levels, the 73Hz extension is often sufficient without a subwoofer, depending on the musical content and listening priorities of the space.

What is the Skyhook installation system?

The Skyhook is Klipsch's patented tool-free installation mechanism for the DS-250W-LCR. When the speaker module is inserted into the drywall cutout, the Skyhook system automatically engages the mounting dog legs against the back of the drywall with a factory-preset clamping force, requiring no screwdriver, drill, or hand-tightening by the installer. This eliminates the overtorquing failure mode that can fracture dog leg mechanisms or crack drywall surfaces in conventional in-wall speaker installations. Klipsch specifies that the Skyhook system reduces installation time by up to 75% compared to tool-tightened dog legs, which is a significant efficiency advantage in commercial and multi-room residential projects involving many speakers.

Can the Klipsch DS-250W-LCR be used horizontally as a center channel?

Yes, the Klipsch DS-250W-LCR is designed for left, center, and right channel use in home theater systems. In center channel applications, the 16.5" H x 6.5" W cabinet installs horizontally below or above a projection screen or flat-panel display with the long dimension running side to side. The 100° wide coverage angle of the Tractrix horn maintains broad horizontal dispersion in this orientation, providing consistent tonal balance across the full width of the seating area for center channel dialogue intelligibility.

What amplifier is compatible with the Klipsch DS-250W-LCR?

The Klipsch DS-250W-LCR is compatible with any AV receiver or power amplifier capable of stable 8-ohm operation. It handles 60W RMS and 240W peak per channel, and the 92dB sensitivity means it produces good listening volume from modest amplifier power. Mid-range AV receivers from Denon, Yamaha, Marantz, and Onkyo at 50W to 100W per channel are more than adequate for home theater LCR use in standard room sizes. For whole-home audio, multi-zone distribution amplifiers from Sonos Amp, Denon HEOS Amp, or similar systems will drive the DS-250W-LCR efficiently across long wire runs at comfortable background listening levels.

Where can I buy the Klipsch DS-250W-LCR in Toronto or Canada?

The Klipsch DS-250W-LCR In-Wall LCR Speaker is available at Vinyl Sound, an authorized Klipsch dealer in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound carries the full Klipsch architectural speaker lineup across the Designer, Professional Reference, and THX Cinema series and can advise on system configuration, channel layout, amplifier matching, and installation accessory selection including the optional IK-502-W II installation kit for new construction and retrofit home theater and distributed audio builds across the Toronto area and across Canada.

What is the difference between a silk dome tweeter and a titanium dome tweeter in an in-wall speaker?

A silk dome tweeter uses a lightweight polymer fabric dome that provides smooth, natural high-frequency reproduction with a relaxed tonal character, relatively low sensitivity, and strong self-damping that reduces resonances above the audible range. A titanium dome tweeter uses a rigid metallic diaphragm that offers higher sensitivity, greater transient speed, and lower distortion under demanding drive conditions, but can exhibit a sharper, more detailed character. In the DS-250W-LCR, the silk dome tweeter with Tractrix horn delivers Klipsch horn-loading efficiency and controlled directivity with the smoothness associated with soft dome materials, suited to the Designer Series value positioning. In higher-tier speakers like the PRO-25RW LCR or PRO-250RPC, aluminum or titanium dome tweeters provide additional detail resolution and sensitivity appropriate to the performance expectations of those product tiers.

Moisturizing Gloves That Actually Work
Over the years, I have tried so many different types of gloves to alleviate my dry skin. Since it especially bad on my hands I have tried everything. Of all the gloves I have purchased, this pair is head and shoulders above all the others. The first night I used these I could not believe the difference! It was astonishing. My hands were soft and supple for the first time in my life, and they stayed that way for most of the day. The moisturizing aspects of leaving humectants on one's skin for prolonged periods is really a game changer. They fit perfectly and can be pulled on with ease. The crazy bonus is that I was still able to use my phone once I was wearing them. That has never been the case with any of the other gloves I've used. If you have dry skin on your hands, you must try these. One night of use and you will be sold!

A bit small for one size fits all
Purchased these for my husband who has pretty severe dry skin in the winter. The gloves are great but they are a bit small. My husband doesn’t have very large hands (cadet size golfing gloves) & this hardly reaches his wrist so one size fits most is a bit of a stretch. However, these do the job & he likes them. We appreciate the packaging doubles as a reusable pouch.

Awful
I love this brand & expected more, especially for the price. the gloves are super bulky and uncomfortable. they’re hard to get on and off and have a strange feeling when on because of the gel lining. they also smell odd. i wore them so about a week with several different creams/balms/lotions etc. i woke up with them off multiple times which makes me know that i was uncomfortable in them during my sleep. they also caused a weird breakout on my hands up to my wrists that took over a week to go away with the help of cortisone. it was like hives but more rash like. i didn’t bother attempting to return them and decided to throw them out. waste of money, time & ended up with a rash at the end. they did make my hands softer and helped with my cracked skin but at what cost?

Update - Stick to your hands
UPDATED - I am SO impressed with the seller!! They read my review and gave me a full refund even though I no longer had the gloves to return. At this point I would suggest that you aren't taking a big risk to give these gloves a try, a lot of people obviously love them, and if you don't you can certainly get your money back. Many thanks to the excellent seller! __________________________________________ I bought these because it seemed like there were a lot of good reviews. I hated these! I don't understand why anyone liked them... they are lined with thick sticky gel. You know those gel like sticky toys that kids toss at a wall and it sticks? Or do you recall the sticky, gummy hands that you could toss and they would pick up a piece of paper or something? The lining of these gloves make me think of those toys. So my experience is that they are very difficult to get on and once they're on they really bugged me after awhile I need to get them off, but they're very difficult to get off without turning the gloves inside out. ...then you have to try get them turned back to right side out... in the end I tried them and then thought I would try them one more time but they were such a pain in the rear that I ended up tossing them in the trash because I waited too long to be able to return them. One of my saddest purchases from Amazon!

Hallelujah!
My hands were so dry and cracked until I got these babies. I didn't realize what I was getting myself into and was surprised when they were lined with some kind of silicone. Night one, I lathered my hands with whatever lotion I had laying around and went to bed. Now, these gloves are not super comfy because they're so thick, but not so bad that I won't use them. Anyway, wore them several hours and took them off in the middle of the night (they recommend at least 20-30 minutes). In the morning, my hands were baby soft. No cracks. No dryness in sight. AND it lasted all day. I did it the night after and I have not had dry hands for nearly 2 weeks! It's insane. I'm SO happy. Definitely worth it as a little treat yourself.
