Klipsch PRO-18RW In-Wall Speaker (Each) at Vinyl Sound Toronto Canada

The PRO-18RW is a 2-way in-wall speaker from Klipsch (Indianapolis, Indiana, USA), available at Vinyl Sound in Toronto, Canada. Part of Klipsch's Professional Series Reference architectural lineup, it uses the same acoustic components and horn design as the Klipsch Reference box speaker series to bring Reference-grade sound to distributed audio and home theater installations. An 8" Injection Molded Graphite (IMG) Woofer paired with a 1" Pivot Aluminum Dome Tweeter mated to a 90° x 90° ABS Tractrix Horn delivers a measured frequency response of 56Hz to 23kHz (+/-3dB) at a high 95dB sensitivity and 8 ohms, with 50W RMS and 200W peak power handling across a symmetrical 90° x 90° coverage pattern. Controlled Dispersion Technology allows the tweeter to be aimed up to 15° in any direction for on-axis frequency response optimization to off-center listening positions. The exclusive SecureFit Installation System prevents overtorquing during mounting, and the package includes both square and round bezel-free magnetic paintable grilles plus a magnetic PVC paint shield for construction and renovation protection.

True Klipsch Reference Acoustics: IMG Woofer and Tractrix Horn

The PRO-18RW draws from Klipsch's Reference speaker series, using the same 8" Injection Molded Graphite woofer and Tractrix horn design as the Reference box speaker lineup. IMG woofers are produced by injecting graphite-infused polymer under high pressure into a precision mold, creating a cone with exceptional stiffness and internal damping in a single repeatable process that eliminates the cone variability associated with hand-formed paper or composite cones. The graphite fiber reinforcement within the polymer matrix adds rigidity without increasing mass, allowing the 8" driver to move with speed and accuracy while maintaining low distortion at high excursion levels across the 56Hz to 23kHz operating range. The 1" aluminum dome tweeter couples into a 90° x 90° ABS Tractrix horn, focusing high-frequency energy into a controlled, predictable dispersion pattern for consistent tonal balance from all seating positions in the room. At 95dB sensitivity, the PRO-18RW ranks among the most efficient in-wall speakers available, producing substantial output from the modest per-channel power available in multi-zone whole-home audio distribution systems, where amplifier power is typically shared across multiple rooms simultaneously.

Controlled Dispersion Technology and SecureFit Installation

The PRO-18RW's 1" aluminum dome tweeter pivots up to 15° in any direction via Klipsch's Controlled Dispersion Technology. This is more flexible than the +/-15° single-axis pivot found on many in-wall speakers, allowing the installer to aim the tweeter's 90° x 90° coverage pattern both horizontally and vertically toward the primary listening position regardless of where the speaker must be placed on the wall. The result is better on-axis frequency response for off-center listening positions, more direct high-frequency energy at the listener's ears, and less reflected sound from room boundaries, which contributes to clearer imaging and more natural vocal reproduction. The SecureFit Installation System prevents the most common in-wall speaker installation failure: overtorquing the mounting dog legs. SecureFit dog legs engage by hand to a factory-preset clamping force automatically, then the speaker module fastens to the bezel with machine screws for a mechanically stiffer and acoustically more stable connection than drywall-screw mounting achieves. Both a square and a round bezel-free magnetic paintable grille are included in the box, and a magnetic PVC paint shield protects the driver during painting or construction work.

Key Features

  • 8" Injection Molded Graphite (IMG) Woofer: High-pressure injection molding with graphite fiber reinforcement produces a stiff, well-damped cone with low mass for accurate, low-distortion bass and midrange reproduction from 56Hz through the crossover frequency, using the same driver technology as Klipsch's Reference box speaker lineup.
  • 1" Pivot Aluminum Dome Tweeter with 90° x 90° ABS Tractrix Horn: The aluminum dome tweeter mated to a Tractrix horn focuses high-frequency energy into a controlled 90° x 90° pattern for consistent tonal balance across the listening area, with Tractrix geometry maximizing the efficiency of energy transfer from driver to room.
  • Controlled Dispersion Technology: The tweeter pivots up to 15° in any direction, providing horizontal and vertical aiming flexibility that allows the installer to optimize on-axis frequency response toward off-center listening positions, overcoming the common constraint that in-wall speaker placement is dictated by stud bay location rather than acoustic ideal.
  • 95dB Sensitivity at 8 Ohms: Exceptional efficiency allows the PRO-18RW to produce substantial output from very modest amplifier power, making it an excellent match for multi-zone whole-home audio distribution systems where per-channel power is limited and long speaker wire runs further reduce delivered power.
  • SecureFit Modular Installation System: Dog legs engage by hand to a factory-preset clamping force, eliminating overtorquing. The speaker module then fastens to the bezel using machine screws for a mechanically stiffer and more acoustically stable installation than conventional drywall-screw mounting methods.
  • Both Square and Round Bezel-Free Magnetic Grilles Included: A square and a round powercoated magnetic steel grille are both included in the box, providing the visual profile that best suits the installation environment without an additional purchase. Both grilles are paintable to match any wall finish and attach without visible hardware.
  • Magnetic PVC Paint Shield Included: A magnetic paint shield covers the speaker module during wall painting or construction work to protect the IMG cone, aluminum dome tweeter, and horn from paint splatter and construction dust without requiring grille removal.
  • Infinite Baffle ABS Enclosure: The wall cavity serves as the acoustic working environment at 3.9" mounting depth. Compatible with the optional IK-800-W or IK-800-W II installation kit for new construction framing applications (both sold separately).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Klipsch PRO-18RW?

The Klipsch PRO-18RW is a 2-way in-wall speaker from Klipsch's Professional Series Reference architectural lineup, featuring an 8" Injection Molded Graphite woofer and a 1" pivot aluminum dome tweeter mated to a 90° x 90° ABS Tractrix horn. It delivers a frequency response of 56Hz to 23kHz at 95dB sensitivity and 8 ohms, with 50W RMS and 200W peak power handling. Controlled Dispersion Technology allows tweeter aiming up to 15° in any direction, and the SecureFit Installation System, both square and round bezel-free magnetic paintable grilles, and a magnetic PVC paint shield are all included.

How does the Klipsch PRO-18RW compare to the PRO-180RPW and the Polk Audio 80RT?

The Klipsch PRO-18RW and PRO-180RPW are both 8" in-wall speakers from Klipsch's Professional Series but belong to different acoustic lineages. The PRO-18RW uses an IMG woofer and aluminum dome tweeter drawing from the Klipsch Reference series, reaching 95dB sensitivity. The PRO-180RPW uses a Cerametallic woofer and titanium dome tweeter with Hybrid Cross Section Tractrix horn from the Reference Premiere series, at 96dB sensitivity and deeper 52Hz bass extension versus the PRO-18RW's 56Hz. The PRO-18RW includes both square and round grilles in the box, while the PRO-180RPW includes one rectangular grille. The PRO-18RW's Controlled Dispersion Technology also allows multi-axis tweeter aiming rather than the single-axis horn pivot of the PRO-180RPW. Compared to the Polk Audio 80RT, the Klipsch PRO-18RW's 95dB sensitivity substantially exceeds the Polk's rating, and the Tractrix horn provides more controlled directivity and higher efficiency than the Polk's conventional dome tweeter.

What is Controlled Dispersion Technology and how does it differ from a standard pivoting tweeter?

Controlled Dispersion Technology on the PRO-18RW allows the 1" aluminum dome tweeter assembly to pivot up to 15° in any direction, meaning it can be aimed horizontally, vertically, or diagonally toward the listening position. A standard pivoting tweeter on many in-wall speakers pivots only along a single horizontal axis, which corrects for listening positions that are off-center left or right of the speaker but does not address positions that are above or below the ideal tweeter axis. The multi-directional pivot of Controlled Dispersion Technology resolves both horizontal and vertical misalignment between the speaker's installation position and the primary listening seat, making it a more complete solution for installations where the speaker location on the wall is constrained by stud bay placement and the listening position is at a difficult angle in both axes simultaneously.

What is an Injection Molded Graphite woofer and why is it used?

An Injection Molded Graphite woofer is produced by injecting a graphite fiber and polymer compound into a precision mold under high pressure. The graphite fiber reinforcement within the polymer matrix adds rigidity without significantly increasing cone mass, producing a cone that is stiffer and better-damped than conventional paper or unfilled polymer cones of the same dimensions. The injection molding process also produces a highly consistent cone geometry from unit to unit, improving driver-to-driver matching in multi-speaker distributed audio systems. In the PRO-18RW, the 8" IMG cone delivers low-distortion bass and midrange reproduction across the 56Hz to 23kHz operating range with the same tonal character as the Reference box speaker series from which the design is drawn.

Why are both a square and a round grille included with the PRO-18RW?

Klipsch includes both a square and a round bezel-free magnetic grille with the PRO-18RW to provide installation flexibility without requiring an additional purchase. In rooms with modern minimalist interiors or where the speaker is installed adjacent to square architectural elements such as recessed panels or rectangular wall features, the square grille provides a more consistent visual integration. In rooms where the speaker is installed near circular elements such as recessed can lights, or where a round profile is preferred for aesthetic reasons, the round grille offers a better visual fit. Both grilles attach magnetically without visible hardware, accept standard interior wall paint for wall-color matching, and can be removed without tools for driver access or servicing.

Where can I buy the Klipsch PRO-18RW in Toronto or Canada?

The Klipsch PRO-18RW In-Wall Speaker is available at Vinyl Sound, an authorized Klipsch dealer in Toronto, Canada. Vinyl Sound carries the full Klipsch Professional Series Reference architectural speaker lineup and can advise on system configuration, whole-home audio zone design, amplifier matching, and installation accessory selection including the optional IK-800-W or IK-800-W II installation kits for new construction and retrofit projects across the Toronto area and across Canada.

What amplifier does the Klipsch PRO-18RW require?

The Klipsch PRO-18RW requires any external amplifier capable of stable 8-ohm operation, with a recommended amplifier power of 100W per channel and a maximum continuous power handling of 50W RMS. The 95dB sensitivity means the speaker produces meaningful volume from just a few watts of input, so a 30W to 100W per channel multi-zone distribution amplifier from brands such as Sonos Amp, Denon HEOS Amp, Marantz M1, Russound, or similar is entirely sufficient for whole-home audio applications. For home theater use, any modern AV receiver rated at 50W or more per channel at 8 ohms will drive the PRO-18RW comfortably at reference listening levels in standard room sizes.

Fallen Angels, fae, vampires, oh my!
Format: Kindle
Rating: 4.5 | Spice: 2 (but a good slow-burn) • Main Characters: Huntyr and Wolf • I couldn’t wait to read this book; there was so much hype about it! And there was no doubt why. I fell in love with the characters and the plot itself. This book is mainly plot driven more than friction driven but it’s easy to follow along with. The characters are fun, easily understood. The main setting is at an academy where both the main characters are going through trials and building strength for the final test, The Transcendent. There are fantastic side characters as well. I loved the camaraderie between Huntyr and her friends. But we don’t like Lanson. 😆 We do have some plot twists that come into play throughout the book. Secrets and betrayal to be seen. I did adore Wolf and Huntyr’s relationship. It was a classic slow burn trope. They didn’t hit it off fast, but in time their feelings grew. I loved their banter, so sexy. Wolf is your next book boyfriend; Huntyr is your next vampire assassin independent bad-a*s female. Themes include loyalty, trust, self-discovery, a true slow burn romance. Side note: book ends on a angsty cliffhanger! • Emily, thank you for writing this awesome novel and I cannot wait to devour Book 2, Blood So Brutal! 😍 • Happy reading, my lovelies! xo

“My heart bows to you and you only, Huntress.”
Format: Kindle
3.5 🌟 This book popped up in my KU recommended reading suggestions and the synopsis sounded like what I was in the mood for. I'm so glad I took a chance on it. I went into this knowing absolutely nothing about it and ended up really liking it. I love when this happens. The main characters are likeable and I easily found myself rooting for them. There is a mystery element to each of their backstories that I enjoyed watching unfold and can't wait to get more of. Wolf, in particular, has me fixated. Love him. I found this to be an entertaining, addictive read with a plot that moves along at a good pace. It reads so easily I found myself very reluctant to put it down. Lots of twists and turns and the angst is there. A good set up for the next book to come, for sure. My issues with this book....the dialogue feels a bit juvenile at times and there is a repetitive over use of a particular word phrasing that I found myself giving the ole eye-roll to. There are, without a doubt, some pretty cliche moments that gave me a bit of the cringe. I think this could've certainly 100% benefited from more depth regarding the world building. Perhaps the world building was sacrificed to keep the pacing quick? Just a guess. Also, the lack of consistency of character for the FMC was really evident and so she feels quite illogical at times. Overall, this was a fun and enjoyable read that hit the spot well enough for me. That ending certainly has me impatiently pining for book 2!

Interesting take on the genre
Format: Kindle
True rating: 3.25 ⭐️ I enjoyed the fresh take on the genre. The best way I could describe the setting and world is an apocalyptic dystopian version of Farie where vampires, fae, and angles struggle to survive in what is left of the world. It was definitely interesting throwing the academy/hunger games aspect into this world as well. Even though I guessed the final reveal early on in the book, I kept hoping I was wrong, and it would take a surprising turn. While the "plot twists" were a bit predictable to me, I still enjoyed the ride this book took me on. Another downfall for me was the plot holes in the world building... I.E. if society has fallen and the world is in the aftermath of war, how are there trains running around the world? Just to take young adults to the trials to get into the golden city? How is the train maintained, the tracks clear, etc? However, I did enjoy the FMC & MMC and thought they were fleshed out nicely. I also enjoyed the side characters but wish some were developed more like Ashalin (sp?). I do find myself rooting for the MCs to succeed and find happiness together, which is obviously an important aspect for romantasy. Overall, was this an earth-shattering, mind-bending, terrific piece of literature? No. But was it the worst thing I've read this year? Also, no. This book has, to me, the bones of a great read & just needs a bit more to push it from an alright book to a great book. Overall ratings: Plot- 3.5⭐️ World building 3⭐️ Spice 2.5 🌶🌶 Main characters 4 ⭐️ Supporting characters 3.5⭐️

great book
Format: Kindle
I am really excited to meet the author at the book retreat this month. I really enjoyed this world that she built and most of the female main character Huntress is so awesome. She goes through a lot in this book and the ending; wow! I wouldn't have even guessed. I highly recommend everyone to read this book. I have been so lucky this year that almost all the books I have read have been, so far, 5 out 5 stars.

Fallen for the Fallen Angel – A Guilty Pleasure Worth Every Page
Format: Kindle
There’s something deeply irresistible about a dark academia or trial-based setting, a brooding and arrogant fallen angel, and a fierce heroine with enough sass to go toe-to-toe with him. Wings So Wicked is exactly that kind of book—and I devoured it in just a couple of days. To be fair, the plot isn’t groundbreaking. If you’re looking for something fresh and innovative in terms of storyline, this might not be it. But if your reader heart beats faster at the mere mention of enemies-to-lovers, jealousy-fueled banter, magical trials, betrayals, and forbidden tension—you’ll feel right at home. It’s like catnip for those of us with this particular weakness. The chemistry between the leads could have used a slightly slower burn to make the tension sizzle longer, but I still found myself completely invested in their dynamic. There are moments and phrases that feel a bit cheesy or underdeveloped, but honestly? I didn’t care. The vibes were exactly what I wanted. This book isn’t trying to reinvent the genre—it’s here to give readers like me what we crave: high-stakes magical drama, angsty romance, and the thrill of watching a badass girl and her brooding counterpart clash and spark. If that sounds like your kind of story, Wings So Wicked will hit the mark. Here’s hoping Book 2 turns up the heat and keeps the magic alive.
