KORG’s dedication to long-term support ensures all KRONOS systems can utilize the many and varied KRONOS Sound Libraries, preserving your investment and enabling seamless upgrades when hardware is refreshed.

For previous KRONOS and NAUTILUS owners, KORG will release a Soundpack in the second half of 2025 that brings the latest KRONOS sounds to earlier models, ensuring every musician can benefit from KORG’s ongoing innovations.

*Two types of preloaded data are available for the new model to support both KRONOS 1/X and KRONOS 2, in either program order.

**Austrian Piano, Italian Piano, etc., which are not included in early models, can be used by purchasing Sound Libraries.

KRONOS Sound Libraries, a vast library of extended sounds

The KRONOS Sound Libraries, a library of extended sound samples and programs  has been released steadily since the first KRONOS was introduced, and boasts a lineup of more than 300 titles, each with a unique selection that is different from the preloaded programs in the main unit. These titles can be purchased separately and used with all KRONOS products.

The KRONOS Sound engine is designed to accommodate any genre of music, and to be used in a variety of situations by any user. The KRONOS Sound Libraries allow you to find and purchase your preferred sounds and genres that are not included in the main unit, and change your KRONOS to your liking.

The KORG Shop (https://korg.shop/sound-libraries/kronos-nautilus.html), which sells these libraries, allows you to search for your favorite titles by instrument category (Piano, Strings, Bass, etc.), year of release, price range, and developer name. There are two types of libraries: the EXs library, which includes PCM, and the KRS library, which includes only program data. Each of these libraries also include demo sounds and demo videos, so you can find the sound you are looking for.

For users who own multiple KRONOS units, this library is also attractive because each unit can be registered with a KORG ID so that a license for one title can be shared by up to three KRONOS** units.

* The demo version has a limitation where the volume fluctuates when playing.

** The total of up to 3 units can include NAUTILUS.

Enhanced SGX-2 Grand Piano Sound Engine with the addition of a premium Italian grand.

The KRONOS piano engine has always offered the highest quality  non-looped/natural decay stereo samples, recorded for every key, with additional unique tools to customize the piano to your needs. Inheriting all of this SGX-1 functionality, the new enhanced SGX-2 Grand Piano engine introduces the new Berlin Grand piano to the existing deep German Grand and lively Japanese Grand. The Berlin Grand offers resonant piano sound with a striking sense of depth. In addition to these three pianos, it is equipped with a gorgeous and transparent Italian Grand - four very different Grand Pianos to choose from.

Other enhancements to the SGX-2 engine included Sympathetic String Resonance and newly-recorded Una Corda (soft pedal – literally “one-string”) samples.

  • The newly added Italian Grand does not include the effects of Una Corda.

Massive Sound Selection

KRONOS comes equipped with thousands of sounds, created using various synthesis modes and calling upon over approximately 21 GB of preset waveform data covering a variety of genres. Each one has been carefully crafted by the KORG Sound Design team. The internal SSD offers a generous 62*GB capacity, providing enormous space for user sampling or downloading additional KRONOS Sound Libraries. These optional KRONOS Sound Libraries add new professionally programmed sounds—without the need to add any new hardware.

Artist Signature Programs provide the priceless sounds actually used by top-ranking musicians. Additional Song Programs are named for the classic rock and pop songs whose signature keyboard sounds these programs recreate. Use these universally well-known sounds to pay homage to the originals, or as the basis for personal sonic explorations.

* SSD capacity is subject to change without notice.

Nine Distinct Sound Engines

Each of the individual KRONOS sound engines is eminently qualified to operate as a stand-alone synthesizer. And each one represents the cutting-edge technology available for that type of sound creation. Exacting programming parameters, real-time controllers, integrated effects, and assignable modulation routings provide incredible control to create custom edits or to empower the ambitious sound designer

Set List Mode

KRONOS can organize all of the resources you need to get through a song—or a set—using the Set List mode. Using the Set List mode, the TouchView display can host 16 color-coded touch-screen buttons; each one can instantly call up the appropriate Preset, Combination, or Sequence—regardless of mode!

You can even add handy performance notes (“Sing on Chorus;” “Transpose Down;” “Wait for Sax Solo;” etc.) to each one.

The Set List mode adds a dedicated nine-band graphic EQ, allowing the overall tone to be tweaked to match the venue. Set List mode now allows for deeper customization with many slot color options, text size variations, and a full-screen text editor. Connecting a USB computer keyboard makes it simple to enter text and numeric values.

Color TouchView Display

The nerve center of the KRONOS is KORG’s enormous eight-inch (800 x 600 pixel) SVGA color TouchView display.

In addition to simply selecting a sound or choosing a parameter with the touch of a finger, the enhanced Touch-Drag ability allows more detailed control of parameter values. Interactive instruments and panel graphics provide the ability to do everything from adjusting the opening height of a grand piano lid to connecting patch cables on a semi-modular synthesizer model.

The TouchView display also hosts a convenient new Search Function, allowing you to search for (and preview) sounds based on their titles.

Sequencer Composition Tools

In addition to MIDI and Audio tracks, the onboard sequencer is loaded with valuable tools to transform your musical ideas into a complete composition, using realtime and interactive techniques that are unavailable or cumbersome to use on a computer-based system.

*KARMA

First appearing on KORG’s Karma Music Workstation in 2001, this revolutionary algorithmic music technology instantly produces sophisticated phrases, drum grooves and full-blown backing tracks. Based on the notes and chords you play—and the intuitive operations you perform with the knobs, sliders, and switches—KARMA can create musical effects that exceed anything you imagined. Now in its greatly-enhanced second generation and offering features like KARMA Wave-Sequencing, Note Mapping and 8 scenes per layer, KARMA is standard equipment on your new KRONOS. It will expand your conception of a song, and will be an enormously inspiring creative asset for all composing.

*Drum Tracks

First introduced in the highly acclaimed M3 music workstation/synthesizer that launched in 2007,Drum Tracks is now featured in the new KRONOS. Drum Tracks can create everything from a simple reference beat or outline rhythm track up to a full-blown drum track.

Expanded for use in the KRONOS, Drum Tracks now includes professional drum performances, and generates grooves that capture the distinctive feel of a pro drummer, challenging the capabilities of stand-alone drum machines.

*Open Sampling System

Using KORG’s Open Sampling System, KRONOS can quickly sample an external audio source, regardless of whether KRONOS is in the Program, Combination, or Sequencer modes. The Open Sampling Mode can even resample the performance of the KRONOS itself. The user sample bank, which extends the convenience of the EXs sample library to user samples, allows custom samples to be loaded and played, taking advantage of the large SSD capacity.

AIFF, WAV, SoundFont 2.0, and AKAI S1000/3000 format samples can be loaded into memory via USB memory. Additionally, you can use a USB Ethernet adapter to exchange large amounts of sample data with your computer at high speed. Instruments or samples that you've previously created on your PC can be used to construct a music production setup based on just the KRONOS.

16-Track MIDI Sequencer / 16-Track Audio Recorder

KRONOS features a sequencer/recording section that offers both 16 MIDI tracks plus 16 audio tracks; a great resource for putting together a dazzling performance or a brilliant production. MIDI sequencing makes it easy to capture ideas, inspiration, and pro-quality phrases using the KARMA, Drum Track, or RPPR (Realtime Pattern Play/Recording) functions.

The 16-track audio recorder simultaneously captures up to four tracks of 16-bit/24-bit uncompressed data at a sampling rate of 48 kHz. Play along with recorded tracks, add effects, and then resample the KRONOS itself and place the resampled WAV files directly in a track. When polishing your tracks, feel free to use mixer automation and editing functions such as copy, paste, and normalize to get the results you want. Then you can assemble your album right from the TouchView display!

16 Onboard Effect Processors

KRONOS provides 16 internal effects to add impact to your sonic creations. Each of the 12 Insert effects can be applied to individual or multiple timbres in a combination, or to individual or multiple tracks of the sequencer. In addition, two Master effects can be applied to sends 1/2, and two Total effects can be applied to all tracks at the final stage of the sound.

A separate three-band EQ is provided for every timbre, for every sequencer track, and for every audio track for adjusting subtle tonal balances or for creatively modifying the overall sound.

USB/MIDI Host Ports Accommodate MIDI Control Surfaces

Any class-compliant USB-MIDI controller can be connected directly to the KRONOS. If you connect a KORG pad-equipped USB MIDI controller (nanoPAD, nanoPAD2, padKONTROL), pads 1 through 8 of the controller are automatically mapped to the virtual chord pad function of the KRONOS, allowing them to be used to play drums, trigger chords, or to switch chords in chord mode.

Smooth sound transitions that eliminate dropouts when changing sounds, regardless of the mode you're in

When you switch program sounds during a performance to get ready for the next section, or when you switch from Program mode to Combi mode, the sound that's currently being output is always given priority and its effects are maintained during the program change, ensuring a seamless transition with no dropouts, something that has also earned extremely high praise from pro musicians.

Flagship RH3 Weighted Hammer Action

Both the 88- and 73-key KRONOS models use KORG’s finest RH-3 Real Weighted Hammer Action made in Japan. Offering an authentic and accurate piano feel, there are four zones, ranging from heavier to lighter, to provide a more true piano playing experience. Even the 88 key model is slim enough to place on a standard keyboard stand. The KRONOS achieves the perfect balance of functionality and design.

Natural Touch Semi-Weighted Action

For those who prefer the ultra-quick response of a synthesizer keyboard, need to focus on organ performances, or are seeking the ultimate in portability, the KRONOS 61-key model is equipped with a lightweight and expressive semi-weighted synthesizer action with aftertouch.

Advanced Control Surface

In addition to the parameters accessible directly from the TouchView display, KRONOS also offers a wealth of realtime controllers to enhance any performance and to aid navigation. A four-way joystick, ribbon controller, and two assignable switches are located to the left of the keyboard. An additional Vector joystick is Ideally positioned for easy access.

Above the keyboard, nine sliders, eight knobs and a number of switches provide real-time interaction with features at the heart of the KRONOS’ impressive sound. The damper pedal input jack supports half-damping, providing yet another level of piano realism. In addition to the damper pedal jack, there are also two assignable pedal inputs, one footpedal type and one footswitch style.

Nine Synthesizer Engines, United in One Instrument

KRONOS harnesses nine distinct synthesizer/sound engines into a single, integrated musical instrument. Dynamic voice allocation and new technologies allow all sound engines to smoothly share a stable, enhanced hardware platform. The results are nothing less than spectacular.

SGX-2 (Premium Piano) Piano sound engine

Choose your piano! In addition to the acclaimed German Grand and Japanese Grand provided in the SGX-1 engine, the enhanced KRONOS SGX-2 Premium Piano now includes the distinctive Berlin Grand and New Italian Grand. By adding the EXs12 Austrian Grand option (sold separately), KRONOS can offer access to the greatest names in the grand piano world. Un-looped stereo samples recorded for every key provide a natural, authentic decay. Improved 12-level velocity switching exceeds the previous 8-level data, and nuanced extras as pedal string resonance and una corda sample data help recreate the finer details of a grand piano performance.

*String resonance

With the damper pedal depressed, all of the piano strings are free to resonate. When any key is played on the piano, other strings that are pitch-related to the original note may begin to vibrate via sympathetic resonance. The SGX-2 accurately captures and recreates this sympathetic string resonance, adding an additional level of detail to the grand piano sound.

* String resonance overtones can be viewed in the string length edit screen.

*Una corda

The pedal to the far left on a grand piano is the soft pedal. The technical name for this pedal is una corda which translates literally as “one string.” Normally, the piano hammer strikes all of the strings tuned to a particular note, usually two or three. Pressing the Soft/Una Corda pedal shifts the entire piano action, so that the hammer hits only one string. The resulting sound is lower in volume, and has a more muted tone. The SGX-2 Piano Engine contains una corda samples that can replicate this subtle shift in volume and tone to provide a faithful piano performance, complete with all pedal actions.

*Una corda settings can be specified for the foot pedal (separately sold option) and in the screen. The Italian Grand does not include the effects of the Una Corda.

EP-1 (MDS Electric Piano) Electric piano sound engine

The KRONOS EP-1 sound engine is dedicated to faithfully recreating six of the most popular classic electric pianos. And the Tine EP I Early has been newly added to the list. The MDS (Multi-Dimensional Synthesis) technology eliminates the transitions between velocity-switched samples, and does away with the unnatural behavior of looped samples. Smoothly responding to the nuances of the player's touch, yet allowing your performance to reach an energetic climax, this modelled engine features an astounding dynamic range that exceeds what one might expect from digital sound generation. For each of the six different models, different amps, cabinets, speakers, and standard vintage effects are realistically simulated. From the samples to the touch and the effects, all aspects affecting the sound are coordinated into a single package, making this the ultimate electric piano.

CX-3 Tonewheel organ sound engine

The original KORG CX-3 combo organ went on sale in 1980. Loved by musicians around the world, this classic organ reappeared in 2000 using the latest technology. In KRONOS, the CX-3 engine precisely models this classic tonewheel instrument. Proprietary KORG technology has been used to perfectly reproduce the vacuum tube amp, and effects such as Vibrato/Chorus. Special attention was given to the rotary speaker effect, which lets you choose from seven types, as well as use the KRONOS' joystick in the Y-axis to control the speed. Even the instability, fold-back, leakage, and noise of the tonewheels have been obsessively analyzed and recreated. The organ sounds heard in legendary performances—some recreated here by the original artists—are now yours for the playing. Experience these classic organ sounds, reborn for the present day. In addition, the KRS-06 and 06B expansion libraries are included in the package and can be loaded and preloaded into the user area for use with a total of 256 programs.

HD-1 (High Definition Synthesizer) PCM sound engine

HD stands for “High Definition” indicating the HD-1’s superior sound, starting with KORG’s proprietary low-aliasing sample playback oscillators, full-bandwidth multimode resonant filters, and extraordinarily fast & smooth envelopes and LFOs. The HD-1 is the most powerful PCM sound engine in KORG’s history, into which KORG has poured all the PCM know-how accumulated since the M1. All of KORG's acclaimed PCM sounds are painstakingly created by specialized technicians. Data that was reluctantly omitted from previous models due to limited memory has now been called back into service on the KRONOS. The amount of waveform memory rivals a PC-based sound engine. Yet the real difference is in the completely different level of high quality audio finish that is obvious when you play these sounds as instruments on the KRONOS. The finest technicians, working on the finest platform, and aiming at the finest quality: that's the HD-1.

MS-20EX (Legacy Analog Collection) Analog modeling sound engine

Packed with cutting-edge technology, KRONOS also respects the classics. The KORG MS-20 first appeared in 1978 and quickly captivated many synth fans with its rich personality marked by thick and solid sound, aggressive filters, and patching capability that provided nearly infinite possibilities for creating sound. Using KORG’s CMT (Component Modeling Technology) the MS-20EX faithfully reproduces the MS-20 while dramatically expanding its patch panel functionality. Modulate filters with audio-rate oscillators; turn audio inputs into control signals; control all of the original knobs with mod sources including additional envelopes, LFOs, and real-time controllers. It’s a tweaker’s dream. And of course, the KRONOS version offers serious polyphony.

PolysixEX (Legacy Analog Collection) Analog modeling sound engine

The Polysix first appeared in 1981, offering six-voice polyphony and program memory. With its self-oscillating four-pole filter, smooth analog oscillator and sub-oscillator, plus a lush Chorus/Ensemble effect, the PolysixEX extends the abilities of the original in many creative ways. The strings and pads that were such a major feature of the Polysix will be invaluable when you need the sounds of the early '80s. The classic arpeggiator built into the original Polysix is also provided. As a bonus, it’s also capable of extremely high polyphony.

AL-1 (Analog Synthesizer) High-fidelity analog modeling sound engine

Feature-packed, the AL-1 is the same premium analog modeling sound engine that was first featured on the KORG OASYS, the Open Architecture Synthesis Studio back in 2005. Completely eliminating aliasing noise, and delivering the supple and fascinating sound of analog synthesis, this sound engine uses oscillator waveforms and filter morphing to generate new sounds that were unobtainable for analog synthesizers of the past.

MOD-7 (Waveshaping VPM Synthesizer) VPM/FM synthesis sound engine

This sound engine uses VPM synthesis based on the VPM (Variable Phase Modulation) technology that powered two classic instruments, the Prophecy which appeared in 1995 and the Z1 which appeared in 1997 as a further evolution, and adds PCM sample playback, multi-mode filters, and external input to create a freely patchable semi-modular synthesizer. Combine Variable Phase Modulation (VPM) from KORG’s classic Prophecy and Z1, add in some wave-shaping, a little ring modulation, mix in a few samples, and add subtractive synthesis, plus a modular patch-panel system, and you have the MOD-7. Exceptionally versatile, it offers everything from classic FM keyboards, bells and basses to rhythmic soundscapes and sparkling, epic pads, and includes the ability to import sounds from vintage DX synths.

STR-1 (Plucked Strings) Physical model sound engine

Based on the physical modeling know-how KORG developed over the course of many years, this struck/plucked-string physical modeling sound engine takes advantage of KORG’s cutting-edge modelling technology. This sound engine shines at producing sounds whose tone responds to your touch in ways that are difficult for a PCM sound engine to reproduce: acoustic guitar, electric guitar, harpsichord, clavinet, harp, bell, as well as ethnic instruments. It also goes much further, allowing you to synthesize and modify sounds that do not exist in reality. This is a sound engine of the future, one that allows the synthesizer programmer to construct truly new sounds.

*1: In rare cases, when a large number of processor-intensive effects are active simultaneously (for instance, more than 14 O-Verbs), polyphony may be slightly reduced.

*2: A portion of the multicore processor in KRONOS is devoted to generating voices, and a separate portion is devoted to generating effects. KRONOS dynamically allocates the voice processing power between the engines as necessary. The quoted maximum numbers of voices apply when 100% of the voice processing power is devoted to a single engine.

*3: 100 dual-stereo notes (equivalent to 400 mono voices)

*4: The memory available for Sampling Mode will change based on the use of Expansion PCM libraries and User Sample Banks. Approx. 760 MB is available when shipped from the factory (When loading the file named “PRELOAD.KSC”).

good to a point
Format: Paperback
basically what could help democrats win.all well and good, but that side has much of the same donors(drug companies, defense contractors, oil industry, etc.)as the republicans.THAT'S why they don't push back fundamentally. one of my big problems with the author is his unapologetic.uneducated islamaphobia.he sounds like george bush when he mentions muslims actually.he fell for the propaganda.instead of drinking the koolaid of the cult,he should sip from the tea of informed tact. i know right-wingers wear their stances/prejudices on their sleeves, but the problem with the liberal side is the smugness they can exude towards everyone else, when, let's face, they're no better.they went to college to deepen THEIR prejudices with a more expanded vocabulary. otherwise,it's interesting from a psychological standpoint on how and what moves the masses.again,it's worth it to a point, just keep in mind that he's a bit of a meathead

The one-stars miss the point:
Format: Hardcover
Thomas J. Farrell and I may be two of a small handful who actually have read Aristotle's Rhetoric. There are good reasons for this. Aristotle's rhetoric is useful to know historically, and gives one the aroma of scholarship, yet only in the sense of one's being well-read but not particularly useful. Westen's point is that Democrats are starving for useful rhetorical advice. Grounding ourselves in material some 2,300 years old is just not sufficient. cglambdin also missed the whole point, but more bluntly and therefore clearly. I would paraphrase Westen's major point as being: as long as you go around thinking "reason, good/everything else, not so good," you lose. Not only do you lose, you DESERVE TO LOSE. Why? In a democracy, "nobody likes a smartass." The corollary to this is: "if you don't know the difference between being smart and being a smartass, you're probably the latter." Now to an ancient aristocrat like Aristotle, the distinction wouldn't have mattered. In the United States of America, it should matter to everyone aspiring to leadership. We common folk expect our leaders to resonate with our values and life conditions. We don't care whether your blood runs a bit blue (as with the Kennedys) as long as you can be with us in spirit when you need to be. It's only polite. In 1992 the smartass class had great fun with Bill Clinton's "I feel your pain" comment, but missed the point that Clinton resonated while President Bush the First's glance at his watch during the same town meeting debate ended the campaign then and there. Drew Westen evokes what I considered state of the art in the communication field when I was in graduate school twenty-five years ago. Because he's a psychologist, and also not a smartass, I didn't expect him to bring up the theoretical language of people ranging from George Herbert Mead to Kenneth Burke. Rather, he demonstrates their insights! We get it! His work also fits well in the tradition of Walter Fisher's groundbreaking . Two things about Westen's book take off a star. Yes, he does meander. Also, his repetitive bashing of Bob Shrum comes off, at last, as an extended hard-sell advertisement for his own political consulting business. Perfection is elusive. Nevertheless, The Political Brain is doggone useful!

Disturbing but necessary read
Format: Paperback
Feels strange saying that I love a book that is as disturbing as this one is but I love that it's well-written and documented and it exposes some horrendous events in the history of the Americas as well as the world. Americans may well point fingers at the Nazis (and deservedly so) but it's a case of people in glass houses throwing stones. There is no question as to the repulsiveness and inhumanity of the genocide and mass murders perpetrated in Nazi Germany, Stalin's Soviet Union, Mao's China, the Khmer Rouge's Cambodia, and in a host of African nations, to name a few; but in our own not too distant past similar atrocities were perpetrated on the native populations of the Americas by the Spanish, Portuguese, British, and colonists/Americans. While the inhumanity elsewhere in the world is touched upon to show where the mindset of this barbarity likely originated, the focus is on the impact in the Americas -- North, South, and Central. The book contains graphic, disturbing descriptions of the cruelty done to the natives by men who have long been esteemed for their alleged contributions in history. Most notably Christopher Columbus. In my time in grade school, he and the many other conquistadors and explorers were portrayed and men of courage and integrity. This book paints a different picture of them as greedy, bloodthirsty, remorseless killers of peoples who they considered inhuman or subhuman. More troubling is Christianity's participation in these actions. Not to blame Christianity for initiating it but to indict it for condoning and even commending the events. Peaceful races of people minding their own business, living in communities well planned and constructed and advanced for their time, and who welcomed the interlopers were obliterated them. Much of the death and destruction was caused by the introduction of European diseases such as smallpox that killed tens of millions but a large part was also caused by actions of odious proportions. Entire civilizations such as the Aztec and the Inca and the Arawak whose artifacts have since been admired and sought after were wiped off the face of the earth. Tens of millions of people slaughtered. Men, women, children butchered. In numbers likely to exceed those of the aforementioned genocides combined. The purpose being to acquire their lands and their riches. Considered to be no more than animals needed to be exterminated. This is our history. This book should be required reading for everyone. The graphic descriptions of the savagery should cause outrage not only for the acts themselves but for a cultures that has covered up their crimes for centuries. And the holocaust has not ended yet.

THE SINGLE FINEST AND MOST ESSENTIAL BOOK OF THE AGE
Format: Paperback
A masterpiece of scholarship and analysis. This book is nothing less than the single most important work that you will ever read. Our entire culture is built on Holocaust Denial while those most responsible for this abnesia drape themselves in the flag of holocaust memorialism but have little honesty in their true agenda. An agenda that allows in North America alone for there to be at least 50 Holocaust memorials, museums and monuments... only problem is they are ALL about the Holocaust that happened in Europe and NOT about the colossal extermination that took place where they live. It is not only denial on the part of the nations of the Americas and Europe but those responsible for this Holocaust Denial in relation to Indian America insist on an image of being the world's caretakers of holocaust memory. What a bloody audacity. Why do we let the Spanish off the hook so lightly? Why is there no demand for Spain to make its Mea Culpa? Why is there no AMERICAS HOLOCAUST memorial in Madrid, Washington, London and Ottawa ? This brilliant book re-addresses the imbalance. POST SCRIPT.... There is a reviewer further down who uses the monica of "history buff" who rejects the value and integrity of this work. In fact he utterly insults Mr Stannard and his thesis. So I thought I would check out his other reviews...oh boy! One of the remarks he makes in a book claiming that Saddam was behind 9/11 goes "But it is very difficult to argue with the facts that were available to the agencies which pointed to a direct link between Saddam and Al Qaeda." This example of his world view is the mild end of it. So people consider the character of the self-described "history buff" who rejects Stannard's brilliant thesis on the Holocaust in the Americas. The reviewer "history buff" has a world view that comes straight out of the 1950's HUAC committee (he associates all Left wing thought with the Soviet Union not knowing that the Bolshevik regime prohibited the platform of the revolution and that its first victims were in fact the most sincere and dedicated Left revolutionaries. Clearly he has never read the finest autobiography in the history of English language autobiography; Emma Goldman's LIVING MY LIFE volume 1 and volume 2. The latter volume includes a first hand account of the destruction NOT construction of socialism by Lenin and his cohorts ). .

EXTINCTION
Format: Paperback
Normally when the word extinct is used it is in reference to animals but after reading this book this term can legitimately be used to describe what happened to the original citizens of America the American Indians. Christopher Columbus and his minions (I refuse to call them soldiers) savagely murdered and killed countless numbers of these Indians, a vivid example of this is given on page 83 " One favorite sport of the conquistadors was "dogging." Traveling as they did with packs of armored wolfhounds and mastiffs that were on a diet of human flesh and were trained to disembowel Indians, the Spanish used the dogs to terrorize slaves and to entertain the troops. An entire book Dogs of the Conquest, has been published recently, detailing the exploits of these animals as they accompanied their masters throughout the course of the Spanish depredations. "A properly fleshed dog," these authors say, "could pursue a 'savage' as zealously and effectively as a deer or a boar.... To many of the conquerors, the Indian was merely another savage animal, and the dogs were trained to pursue and rip apart their human quarry with the same zest as they felt when hunting wild beasts." And also on pages 83-84 "Just as the Spanish soldiers seem to have particularly enjoyed testing the sharpness of their yard-long rapier blades on the bodies of Indian children, so their dogs seemed to find the soft bodies of infants especially tasty, and thus the accounts of the invading conquistadors and the padres who traveled with them are filled with detailed descriptions of young Indian children routinely taken from their parents and fed to the hungry animals. Men who could take pleasure in this sort of thing had little trouble with less sensitive matters, such as the sacking and burning of entire cities and towns, and the destruction of books and tablets containing millennia of accumulated knowledge, wisdom, and religious belief." After page 146 there's an illustrated unnumbered section titled Genocide the first nine pages of this section contain pictures of how the Spanish tortured and killed Indian women and children as stated on the second page of this section "[The Spaniards] took babies from their mothers' breasts, grabbing them by the feet and smashing their heads against rocks...They built a long gibbet, low enough for the toes to touch the ground and prevent strangling, and hanged thirteen [natives] at a time in honor of Christ Our Saviour and the twelve Apostles. Then, straw was wrapped around their torn bodies and they were burned alive." Not to be outdone the good old American cavalry also engaged in its' fair share of savage murder and killing as can be seen from the bottom of page126 to the top of page 127 "They turned their guns, Hotchkiss guns, etc., upon the women who were in the lodges standing under a flag of truce, and of course as soon as they were fired upon they fled....There was a woman with an infant in her arms who was killed as she almost touched the flag of truce, and the women and children of course were strewn all along the circular village until they were dispatched. Right near the flag of truce a mother was shot down with her infant; the child not knowing that its mother was dead was still nursing, and that was especially a very sad sight. The women as they were fleeing with their babes were killed together, shot right through, and the women who were very heavy with child were also killed." I personally do not celebrate Columbus Day and Thanksgiving Day this book is ample proof and evidence as to why these two days should be set aside as a time for mourning not celebration, if you want your children to have a true understanding of American history then I strongly urge you to buy this book and have it as part of your home library.
