Background

HLA-E is a non-classical, oligomorphic class Ib major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecule whose primary function centers on presenting highly conserved nonameric signal peptides (predominantly the VMAPRTLVL sequence, known as VL9) derived from the leader sequences of other classical HLA class I molecules (such as HLA-A, -B, -C, and -G) via a TAP-dependent processing pathway. These peptides form stable peptide-HLA-E-β2m trimers that are transported to the cell membrane, where they serve as key ligands for the CD94/NKG2 family of receptors expressed on NK cells and certain CD8⁺ T cells. Notably, HLA-E exhibits significantly higher affinity for the inhibitory receptor NKG2A than for the activating receptor NKG2C. This mechanism constitutes a real-time "sensing system" that monitors the overall expression levels of classical MHC-I molecules within the cell, enabling the immune system to recognize and eliminate "missing-self" cells—those that have downregulated classical MHC-I due to viral infection or malignant transformation. Unlike classical HLA molecules, HLA-E displays extremely low genetic polymorphism (predominantly represented by the E01:01 and E01:03 alleles), minimal surface expression levels, and a remarkably short half-life (approximately 12 minutes). Its cytoplasmic tail contains a unique lysine/tryptophan motif that drives clathrin-mediated rapid endocytosis via the adaptor protein AP-2, followed by endosomal peptide exchange and recycling through VCP-associated pathways. This unconventional intracellular trafficking mechanism enables HLA-E, under specific conditions (such as macrophages infected with mycobacteria or CMV-vectored vaccine strategies), to load suboptimal peptides derived from stress protein Hsp60 signal sequences or from pathogens including Mycobacterium, Salmonella, HIV, and SARS-CoV-2. These peptides are presented in an HLA-E-restricted manner to CD8⁺ T cells expressing TCRs featuring the unique TRAV17 gene segment, thereby eliciting adaptive immune responses. Given its dual role as both a central hub maintaining NK cell tolerance and a shared target exploited by viruses (such as HCMV and HIV) and tumors (which upregulate HLA-E to retain NK inhibitory signals and evade immunity), HLA-E has emerged as a critical target for developing "universal" T cell/NK cell immunotherapies and for designing novel CMV-vectored vaccines—exemplified by the clearance of SIV in rhesus macaques within the RhCMV/SIV model.

Potential Fall Risk
Size: 2 pairs black L
While these socks do indeed help soften rough skin on your feet, there is a risk of falling while wearing them. Although they have treads on the bottom, which would indicate they’re safe to wear with nothing else, when you put moisturizer on and then wear them your foot can slip inside the sock . This causes you to lose your balance and fall, which happened to me. I’ve thrown them out.

I could be a foot model now!!!
Size: 1 pair black L
I wear work boots almost all of the time so I bought these to put on my feet with salycylic acid to moisturize and try to get rid of a stubborn corn on the ball of my foot. It helped drastically after a few nights of lounging in the house with them on.

2026 it has saved me
I never wanted a store card only! When I first applied I was bummed that I only got the store card and I thought about canceling it. BUT A lot has changed this year for sure. New grandparents, grocery being so EXPENSIVE and everything in our house as far as electronics needed to be replaced. Very easy to apply for, love the fact that you can apply without getting a hit on your credit and if you want to accept the offer then do so and if you decide that it’s not enough credit then you can decline the offer and no hit to your credit. I will say this, this was the lowest card that I was offered but I chose to get it anyway and within a month I had already received a credit line increase. I also took a trip out of the country and was able to order stuff and have it delivered with no problems. Every time I use it I get cash back and am able to use that on my next order. This is my weekly card for groceries. I definitely can’t wait until it upgrades to the visa, I would definitely get more use out of it. For those who are Amazon shoppers, it’s well worth it. So far so good, Good Choice.

Good, but you need to be careful with it
I've done business with GE CRB before using other store cards, so I knew what to expect going into this. I will echo the advice that a few others have given. For one, I would recommend that you only use this card for one purchase at a time and that you pay it off entirely before using the card again. The interest starts accruing immediately, but you are not billed for it until the promotional term expires - for example 6 months, 12 months, etc. You will see the expiration date and accrued interest amount on your bill. I always make sure I can pay off the entire amount well before the expiration date. Also, I schedule automatic payments through the website so it's paid every two weeks (pay day works well for me). I divide the balance by number of payments and schedule all of them right away. It's very easy to do this and will prevent late payment fees and the possibility of defaulting and getting hit with the accrued interest. I haven't had to deal directly with GE CRB customer service yet, so I don't have any complaints on that. The benefit of having a card like this is being able to use it for major purchases, paying it off over time, and avoiding any interest charges because you are paying off the balance before the promotional term (deferred interest) expires. You can't do that with a regular credit card. If you want a card to make frequent purchases with and plan on paying off the balance at the end of the month, you're much better off with a regular credit card. One warning... I noticed that after I was approved for this card my method of payment for Kindle one click purchases changed to this card. Keeping it that way would not be good and I wanted to make sure others know about this. I'm pretty sure you'd be hit with the interest at the end of the month since the purchases you would be making are lower than what's required to receive the no interest promotions. I changed it back to my debit card. Just keep on top of the account, don't use it to make a bunch of purchases, and pay the balance off before the promotional terms expire and you'll be fine. Like all credit, being responsible is the key to not getting in trouble with it.
