Oxley has made a change from his usual kaleidoscopic colour palette yet instils his usual level of incredible detail into this painting using black and white hues. The eyes of the bear are in focus, a stark contrast from the hallucinatory style of the rest of the painting.

With the continuous swirling lines and the limited purple palette, Oxley precisely captures the essence of the bear in this original painting. Discovering that using one colour streamlined his work, he modified his approach to painting, finding the form of the animal first before adding his signature drips. Oxley’s distinctive drip effect captures the fluid movements of the animal on the canvas.
