Mobilgear SHC 220 is a fully synthetic PAO (polyalphaolefin) industrial gear oil engineered for exceptional performance in enclosed gear drives requiring ISO VG 220 lubrication. Formulated from synthetic base fluids with exceptional oxidation and thermal properties, it delivers outstanding protection against micropitting and scuffing, extended oil life under extreme conditions and superior performance across a wide operating temperature range — capabilities that mineral gear oils at the same viscosity grade cannot match.
The most widely specified industrial gear oil grade in South Africa — now in a fully synthetic PAO formulation. Mobilgear SHC 220 is specified where ISO VG 220 mineral gear oil is currently used but the application demands extended drain intervals, higher thermal stability, case-hardened gearing protection or operation in challenging temperature conditions.
The high viscosity index of 180 — compared to 96-97 for Mobilgear 600 XP mineral — means Mobilgear SHC 220 maintains a more stable viscosity across operating temperature changes, providing reliable film protection from cold startup through to elevated operating temperatures without the viscosity thinning that limits mineral gear oil performance in high-temperature applications.
