The Vertiv Avocent ACS8000 32-Port Console System is a premium, scalable solution designed to simplify, secure, and accelerate remote management of IT assets. From global data centers to remote sites, this advanced console server provides seamless in-band and out-of-band access, empowering IT teams to monitor, diagnose, and remediate equipment without on-site visits. With a dual AC power supply for redundancy and an integrated analog modem for dial-in connectivity, the ACS8000 is engineered for high availability and dependable performance in diverse environments. This non-TAA model delivers a compact, rack-ready design that blends enterprise-grade security with flexible management features, helping organizations reduce mean time to repair (MTTR), minimize downtime, and optimize operational costs.

  • 32-port console server enables centralized serial access to servers, network gear, storage devices, and other IT assets, reducing the need for physical console connections and enabling bulk management from a single interface.
  • Secure in-band and out-of-band remote management supports encrypted protocols and access controls to monitor devices across the network, with granular role-based permissions, auditing, and centralized policy enforcement for compliant operations.
  • Dual AC power supply provides hot-swappable redundancy, ensuring uninterrupted console access and system availability even during power hardware failures or maintenance cycles.
  • Integrated analog modem offers dial-in out-of-band connectivity for remote sites or locations with limited network reach, enabling management access during network outages or degraded conditions.
  • Scalable, enterprise-ready architecture supports seamless growth, flexible rack installation, and integrated management workflows that align with data-center modernization, disaster recovery planning, and remote-site automation.

how to install Vertiv Avocent ACS8000

  • Unpack the ACS8000 and verify all components, cables, and documentation are present. Inspect for any transit damage and preserve packaging for future transport if needed.
  • Mount the unit in a standard 19-inch rack and secure it with screws, ensuring adequate ventilation around the chassis to maintain optimal cooling.
  • Connect the dual AC power supplies to a reliable power infrastructure. Ensure both supplies are plugged in and ready for hot-swapping if a maintenance event is required.
  • Attach the management network cable to the dedicated management port and connect the console ports to the assets you intend to monitor or control. Prepare the analog modem line for dial-in accessibility if out-of-band access is required.
  • Power on the ACS8000 and access the initial setup interface through the console or management network. Configure the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, admin credentials, and security policies. Enroll devices, enable necessary protocols, and apply role-based access controls to align with your security posture.
  • Validate connectivity by performing a baseline test of in-band and out-of-band access. Confirm that remote management sessions can reach connected devices, and that the analog modem dial-in path is responsive. Save and back up the configuration to preserve settings during personnel changes or hardware maintenance.

Not a Users Guide
Format: Paperback
Although many readers may find this book useful, it describes a particular approach to Powerpoint. It is not anything like a comprehensive users guide.

Just linear
Format: Paperback
I appreciate that it helps to organize the chaos of information, but I just used the template verbatim with my manager and it did not go very well. He said this linear approach does not work anymore with high-level corporate audiences. They want to cut right to the chase and start to dig into the deep details. This layout with simple images, even if you just pull away the map and anchor slides, makes the storytelling too much like a story, not giving enough credit to the speed at which certain audiences can and do process data on a slide. It was an interesting exercise and I still think this linear layout works in some cases. Just not if you are trying to communicate business case or other C-suite type of information.
